AAU Volleyball on ESPN3.com

AAU volleyball espn3 300x227 AAU Volleyball on ESPN3.com volleyballAAU, ESPN, Disney, Wide World of Sports, whatever you want to call this volleyball tournament, they did a great job hosting this past weekend. The tournament was also to be combine with or was the nationals for the JVA, but I didn’t notice any JVA promotional material throughout the tournament. It was a four day tournament, which I believe was at least a day too lengthy, but I’m sure Disney has to do it’s best to generate as much revenue as possible. Making this an extended tournament does a nice job with having the parents spend extra dinero.

AAU/ESPN did a great job hosting the final matches of each division on ESPN3.com.  The coverage was first class, with announcers, the National Anthem, multiple cameras, four officials, a ball shagging/entry system, etc.  I believe it threw some of the players for a loop, creating a new atmosphere in which to play, but it is something players needs to get accustom as they move up in level.

I’m really impressed with ESPN3.com.  Not only have I been able to watch the Soccer World Cup, but a host of volleyball events too.  ESPN3.com just posted this past weekend’s AVP Women’s Finals and the NCAA Men’s Semi-Final and Finals match is also posted.  Looks like this will be a great portal for watching volleyball.

We the advent of streaming video, on phones even, I believe more and more volleyball matches from the junior level to professional will continue to be uploaded online.  I’m excited to be able to watch more volleyball!
