COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 30, 2010) – The USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships, held July 2-9 at the Austin Convention Center in Texas, will draw teams from 25 States and two countries with their own volleyball federations (Canada and Puerto Rico).

The USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships will crown five Open Division titles at each age group between 14 and 18. In addition, six Club Division titles will be contested in age groups 12 through 18 except for 13s.

California teams comprise over one-third of the teams in the tournament as it has 121 teams competing. By comparison, Illinois has the second-most entries with 41. Host state Texas has 12 teams entered in the tournament, included two teams from the host city. Austin Junior Volleyball will have a team in the 14 Club and 18 Club Divisions.

Hawaii will be well-represented at the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships, despite the miles between it and Austin. The Aloha Region will have 10 squads competing in the event, while the Moku O Keawe Region will have two teams participating.

As per regional participation, 27 of USA Volleyball’s 40 regions will have at least one team playing in the event. The Southern California Volleyball Association, roughly the southern quarter of the state, has 96 entries into the tournament. The Great Lakes Region, the northern two-thirds of Illinois, has 41 teams signed up to play. The Northern California Volleyball Association touts 29 teams competing for one of the 11 titles being contested under the Austin Convention Center roof.

Puerto Rico will also have a large contingent traveling to Austin as it has 28 teams in the mix. Meanwhile, Canada will be represented by four teams.

  1. I didn’t know about the ‘right foot in front’ thing until now, and it makes good sense. Fortunately, my right foot is my dimnoate foot, and that always ends up in front anyway (when I’m on the ground setting at least:-P). Thanks:-D
