A recent Inc. article came out with 12 motivational quotes for 2013 (why 12, I don’t know?). So I decided to embark upon a journey to find 13 volleyball quotes for 2013. Unfortunately, it was more difficult than I imagined. Quotes of many of our great coaches and players are scarcely found throughout the internet. Google searches found some poor selections. I literally read through a number of journal articles to find many of these quotes. The task ended up being quite rewarding as I learned a bit through the research. Following are my findings
1. “Most change is evolutionary, not revolutionary. As we start a new year, let’s find the practicable and ‘celebrate-able’; let’s stay congruent with our messaging, creative in our efficiency, and, most of all, let’s give ourselves new opportunities to dream.” ~ Kathy DeBoer Continue Reading

The Top 35 U.S. Players of All Time
Volleyball Magazine just came out with the Top 35 U.S. Players of All Time. I appreciate the list to bring these great players to light and recognition to the history of our game. I’m not sure if I agree with the order (especially Gene Selznick), but that’s half the fun of a list. How many of these great players do you know and recognize? I believe it is extremely important for the continued growth of our sport in the United States to know (and want to play like) these players. Continue Reading

Another year has passed, another Manhattan Beach Six Man Volleyball Tournament I have missed. I hope one day, before I’m old and gray, I’ll make one of the world’s best volleyball events. This year, even Kerri Walsh played IN the tournament for Team Gum Tree. They took second place in the tournament and Team Magnum, on the men’s side completed a three-peat. It wasn’t without a fight, team 12th Street with the helps of gold medalist Sean Rooney and Eric Fonoimoana gave a valiant effort. Gold medalists Continue Reading

No matter what obstacles, adversities, or distractions might stand in their way, compelled people are going to find a way. They won’t rest until they get the job done. They prepare, train, and compete at the highest level. This means they never go through the motions or skip workouts, they eat well and get the proper rest, and they take advantage of every opportunity to get better. Compelled people not only have high expectations of themselves, but of their teammates, too. They hold themselves and their teammates to a higher standard.

So what do you after you win a couple Olympic Gold Medals and have a baby? Start a clothing line, of course!
Kerri Walsh with long time friend Marissa Borelli (graduate of the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City) have partnered to start KActive – a lifestyle, fun, and sporty clothing line “for the gym, the beach, and the street…”
I admit, I don’t know much about fashion, but I’ve heard the complaints of tall volleyball gals on the bus rides between matches and dinner about finding pants that fit. KActive has a long and lean 37″ inseam. On top of that, the poly/cotton threads have UV protection. I’m all about sun protection.
So Kerri’s into fashion, Lindsey Berg is into fashion, seems to be a trend.
