So my Minnesota layover found me following a woman, who I swore was Lindsey Berg from behind. Lindsey is known for her high fashion and this woman was decked-out like Lindsey might be going out on the town. I wouldn’t assume Lindsey would travel in such attire, but I wanted to say hello. As this woman walked into the convenience shop, she spun around and it certainly wasn’t Lindsey. Heck, I haven’t a clue if Lindsey is even living in Minneapolis, but she has been to Convention a few times and thought it might be her. I’m sure my fiancé doesn’t appreciate me following women around Continue Reading

Ever wonder how Megan Hodge would fair playing international volleyball? Now’s your chance to watch her play with one of USA Volleyball’s great setters, Lindsey Berg.
Megan had a stint with the USA Women’s National Team in the World Grand Prix where she earned limited playing time. Jordan Larson (University of Nebraska) and high flying Destinee Hooker (University of Texas) played in front of her on that team. In fact, Destinee was one of the top point scores for the tournament. As many of you know, I had the privilege to spend time with Head Coach Mike Hebert while at Minnesota. People still ask what I learned most from my experience…and I have a journey full of ideas. Much of what I learned was through listening, watching, small talk, and brainstorming. The times I appreciate most were those brainstorming sessions – bouncing ideas around. I recall a time talking about what makes an ordinary person extraordinary and coming up with a list of things great players do. This list was ranked and separated into levels. The levels were used to recognize the number of items on that list an extraordinary player accomplishes during their volleyball career. Continue Reading

So what do you after you win a couple Olympic Gold Medals and have a baby? Start a clothing line, of course!
Kerri Walsh with long time friend Marissa Borelli (graduate of the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City) have partnered to start KActive – a lifestyle, fun, and sporty clothing line “for the gym, the beach, and the street…”
I admit, I don’t know much about fashion, but I’ve heard the complaints of tall volleyball gals on the bus rides between matches and dinner about finding pants that fit. KActive has a long and lean 37″ inseam. On top of that, the poly/cotton threads have UV protection. I’m all about sun protection.
So Kerri’s into fashion, Lindsey Berg is into fashion, seems to be a trend.

I received the latest AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) publication Volleyball ACE Power Tips and the article happens to be titled, “Make Mental Training Part of Physical Training” with a picture of Lindsey Berg on the cover page. Coincidentally, these are the topics of my last two blogs

Another highlight of my time at the University of Minnesota was the opportunity to not only meet Lindsey Berg, but get to know her. She was able to work with the coaching staff and provide us a different perspective about the team. As with any outside point of view, it is always invaluable, but coming from a two-time Olympian, her Continue Reading
